Cell phones with built in projectors? Sooner than you think!

POSTED BY QBert on Jan 7 under Science/Tech

3M has recently announced they will be launching a super-compact projector (roughly the size of a large peanut) designed to be integrated into a cell phone or portable media player. The LED illuminated projector will offer VGA resolution and can project images up to 40 inches large. Expect to see these doodads showing up as iPhone and iPod accessories real soon as 3M claims that it’s partnering with “leading consumer electronics companies” that plan to launch new products featuring the projector within months….and also expect a bunch of jerky kids to be projecting movies into your face. Anyone remember when laser pointers first became available to the public? I must say though, I do look forward to teasing animals with a projected image…say, a miniature Princess Leia?
