Cosmic cockroaches faster developers, Russian scientists say

VORONEZH, January 17 (RIA Novosti) - Cockroaches conceived in space onboard the Russian Foton-M bio satellite have developed faster and become hardier than ‘terrestrial’ ones, a research supervisor said on Thursday.

The research team has been monitoring the cockroaches since they were born in October. The scientists established that their limbs and bodies grew faster.

“What is more, we have found out that the creatures… run faster than ordinary cockroaches, and are much more energetic and resilient,” Dmitry Atyakshin said.

Cockroaches, as well as other types of insects, can give birth several times after one impregnation, and the cockroaches that conceived during the bio-satellite’s September 14-26 flight have since given birth to their second and third batches of offspring.

“The second and third batches did not show these peculiarities of growth and physiology,” the scientist noted.

‘Ordinary’ cockroaches are already known for their extraordinary resilience. Some species can last almost an hour without oxygen or a month without food, and are able to withstand high doses of radiation.

The September 14-26 flight was part of an ongoing experiment into the effects of space flight by the Institute of Biomedical Problems (IBMP). The creatures were sealed in special containers, and a video camera filmed them during the flight.

So, the logical leap for my mind to make here is that if they have bred super-beinged cosmic cockroaches, then what else are they force mating in outer space? The urge for humans to try to build the better mouse trap extends to all areas, including most recently, genetic manipulation of animals like rabbits, pigs, fish and cats to make them glow. It is a human urge to try and perfect upon the miracle of complexity that nature has already set before our eyes. I admit, when I was in middle school, I picked up two salamanders and pushed them together to try to make them breed. The belief that smooshing two poor salamanders of in-determinant sex together might result in some hot and sweaty baby making action arose from the one and only sex talk my father had with me. Concerned that my up until that point, innocent friendship with the girl across the street named Kelly was getting to be inappropriate. We had sleep overs often, and I guess as I was reaching 10 he thought it prudent to have “the talk” with me. Except, what he told me was,” if a boy rubs up against a girl the wrong way she can get pregnant.” That effectively ended my friendship with her that instance unfortunately. Constantly afraid of accidentally becoming someone’s baby daddy by rubbing up against a girl the wrong way. Or at least, I use the story to rationalize my fear of crowds and close human, female contact. Why am I mentioning all of this? Partly, because I think Russian women are beautiful, and if they are looking for a volunteer to help create cosmic super babiez, I volunteer to go up in the rocket. They can leave me up there too. I will keep making super babies in zero g, free of charge. Just get me up there and keep sending hot pockets and surrogate mothers and I promise you a race of super being babies to do with whatever you want. Just keep me in outer space with the babes and the hot pockets. I bet free floating, in a room of 3000 beautiful Russian women, I could rub up against at least 72% without even trying.

I am star seed.
